QUAY
  No
trip to Singapore would be complete without checking out its
hip and happenin' night scene, and there's no better place to
do it than Robertson Quay (also known as the Mohamed Sultan
area). In recent years, this riverside party strip has surpassed
both Boat Quay and Clarke Quay as the party capital of Singapore,
to be crowned the Sultan of Swing.
 Each
pub and dance club is stylish is its own way. Some have an
oriental theme, with ancient Chinese-style signboards, red
lanterns, and Chinese art pieces as a decorative base, whilst
others are chic, mysterious, or sporty. Some have table top
dancing, whilst others have sprawling dance floors. Some have
themed nights, whilst others have drag shows. There's something
for everyone.
 Many
of the pubs and dance clubs at Robertson Quay have no cover
charge, so you can go hop from one pub to another and boogie
all night long for FREE!
On Fridays, Saturdays and eves of public holidays, the area
is packed with throngs of party-goers having a good time.
Even if pub crawling and jamming are a turn-off, it's still
an excellent place to people watch. The crowd is youngish
and the atmosphere casual. Of the 3 quays, Robertson Quay
is the least touristy and it's definitely worth a night out
by any backpacker in Singapore.

Scene: This
chic and trendy dance club features 3 bar areas, a raised dance
floor, a 10-metre high ceiling, and a swish sliding wall of
lights which changes to suit the mood and occasion. Wednesdays
are "GIRL" nights, with FREE admission and FREE flow
drinks for females from 9.30 p.m. Saturday nights are "GO"
nights, held in conjunction with www.fridae.com, Asia's gay
and lesbian network. The DJ plays garage and house disco.

for females. On Thursdays to Saturdays, it's S$15 for males
and S$10 for females, which includes 2 drinks.

Scene: Since
it opened its doors some 1 ½ years ago, the Liquid Room
has consistently been packed to capacity crowd. This very popular
club has FREE admission and DJs who spin progressive house,
tech-house, tribal and trance. Come early on Fridays and Saturdays,
as the queue begins at 10.00 p.m. and does not end till 2.00
a.m. Dress funky, hip or with attitude to push ahead in the
queue.

The Scene: This
joint specializes in cocktails with milk in them. The DJ spins
house and garage for the dance floor.

with a dance floor.
The
Scene: Singapore's
first oxygen bar is separated into 2 sections - a dance area
and an area with 4 oxygen dispensers. To rejuvenate your tired
souls, inhale pure oxygen served flavoured through nose cannulas.
Available at 5-, 10-, 15- and 20-minute shots at S$1 per minute.
There's a pool table in this joint.

Bear in mind that competition for business at Robertson Quay
is keen and there's a considerably high turnover rate for
the pubs in the area. These sites help update you on whether
a particular pub or club is still in business.
